What to Pack for a Bikini Competition

First, pack your items in a rolling suitcase or bag, so you don’t have any shoulder straps could affect your spray tan.

  • Suit, unless you’re already wearing it, and backup suit if you have one
  • Makeup, lashes, lash glue
    • I’ve paid to have my makeup done at all my shows, but they never come to the show for touchups. Since it’s likely you got your makeup done early in the morning, be prepared to fix it.
  • Makeup sponges, Q-tips, and makeup remover
  • Heels and backup heels if you have them
  • Blanket or towel and a small pillow to lay on
  • All of your meals for a day even if it’s not in your food protocol for that day
    • You never know what the show day schedule is going to look like. I was at a show last year that went late into the evening. I got there at 10am, didn’t have time to leave in-between prejudging and finals, and most near-by restaurants were closed by the time it was over.
  • The food you’re planning to eat throughout the show day (i.e. rice cakes, honey, nut butter, maybe even some sugary candy)
  • Water for sipping and to drink in-between prejudging and finals and an electrolyte drink
  • I keep ibuprofen with me (you never know what might come up)
  • Salt
  • Dandelion root, water pills
    • I was told to take Hydravax at my first 3 shows
  • Comb, brush, flat or curling iron, hairspray
  • Tissues or some other material to tuck under your bikini bottom connectors. The metal can move on your skin and mess up your tan.
  • Safety pins and a sewing kit
  • Long pants and long sleeved hoodie because it can be cold backstage and many venues have rules about being fully covered with a spray tan
  • Silk robe for the same reason, but it’s less warm
  • Flip flops, slippers or slides
  • Jewelry
